Where Did We Come From?

Her mother finished reading her a bedtime story and tucked little
Julie in. "Sleep well tonight, little one," she said to her daughter
     of five.

"Mommy?" little Julie asked, "Where did I come from?"

Knowing this day would come, she was surprised it came so soon.
Pulling a chair up, she sat down and said, "Julie, that is sort of
difficult to answer but I am going to explain it to you the best I
     can."

After 15 minutes of excruciating detail, she finished, although
she was blushing just a little and hoping her daughter didn't notice.

"So, honey," she said, after taking a deep breath. "Do you
understand now where you came from?"

"I guess so, mommy," the little girl said.

"Well," her mother said a little frustrated, "do you have any
     questions about what I explained?"

"No," she yawned, pulling the covers up to her chin. "I just
wondered where I came from. Sally, next door, said she was from
     Kansas City."
